Weather conditions were perfect as over a thousand athletes took to the beaches, roads, and boardwalk for the 14th running of the Tri the Wildwoods Triathlon produced by DelMoSports. This event had something for everyone offering a sprint and Olympic distance triathlon and aquabike, and even a 5K run and a kid’s splash and dash. I opted to race the aquabike so I could spare my knees and ankles from the risk of the soft sand beach run. Being so close to Lake Placid, I want to be safe and arrive at the start line injury free.
My swim was fair given that it was an ocean swim. And although we did swim with the current, the swells were a little big for my liking. I also had some goggles issues which held me up a little but all is fair in love, war, and triathlon. Even so, I was in and out without issue and then got to enjoy one of the best bike courses in the region. The bike was fast with just enough wrinkles to keep your muscles from getting bored. All in all, it was a GOOD day! Thanks to all the staff and volunteers who worked so hard.
Good Day in Wildwood
