A Message from Kareem

Many of you know that last November I partnered with Novartis Oncology and went public with my diagnosis of Philadelphia chromosome-positive chronic myeloid leukemia (Ph+ CML). Since then I have received an outpouring of support and want to thank you for your encouragement. Now I’m taking the next step to help educate the CML community.

2010 LLS Man of the Year

Well The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Man & Woman of the Year Grand Finale was a success and will leave a very lasting impression on me. I wasn’t exactly sure how I stood in terms of fundraising against my “competition”. But in all honesty, I was not too concerned because I knew my team ran a pretty successful campaign and did pretty well with fundraising. If my “pretty successful campaign” came in second or third, then that’s even better because that just compounds the total dollars going to the general good and benefit of the cause and the mission.

Thank You St. Max Kolbe

I am completely amazed at the amount of support that I have received from so many people for my Man of the Year campaign. People seem to be coming out of the woodwork in support of me, and in support of the fight against blood cancers. I have relied quite heavily on a few key individuals and they know who they are. I have also received many donations from folks that I don’t event know. Last week I was made aware of another effort on my behalf that really took my breath away.
