Video Shoot Recap!

On Monday November 28th we opened our doors to a small army of people inclusive of marketing representatives, a film producer, and a band of video, sound, and production guys. We began filming at 8 AM at our house where my wife and I talked about my leukemia story and its impact on our lives. [...]

Be Like Mitch

It’s been a week since the passing of Mitch Kline. I’ve wanted to write a few words this week but no clear thought found its way out of my head. But I’ll ramble for the sake of rambling and because I need to. Mitch was a friend to all and a dear friend and supporter [...]

2016 Chemo Round 3

For those of you keeping score at home…round 3 of chemo concluded today without any issues. My blood counts were good and I continue to both respond and tolerate treatment pretty well.  I haven’t slept yet since yesterday due to the beauty and curse of my favorite (said nobody ever) steroid decadron but sleeping is [...]

It was a Good Day

It was a good day yesterday. It was a really good day. Starting with a great mid-cycle check up with my oncolodoc. Blood levels look good, lymph nodes are retreating, and I am tolerating treatment very well. I wish I could put his reaction in a bottle for future use. He was genuinely  happy and [...]

2016 Chemo Round 2, Day 2

And BOOM, another round is in the books. I hit the rack pretty early last night after a full day of treatment and believe it or not actually got a little rest. I drifted off and on because the steroid decadron had me racing but I quieted myself enough to feel rested. Then bounced up [...]

Round 1 Post Treatment Blood Check

I had my post treatment check in this morning with my oncolodoc. Things are moving in the right direction. My WBC is coming down and the rest of my counts are still at overall safe levels. We know those will dip in the coming months but today they are good. Many lymph nodes are starting [...]

Seemingly Innocuous and Viciously Toxic

It’s very strange to sit in a relaxing chemo recliner and watch bags of crystal clear and seemingly innocuous fluid slowly drip into your blood stream which are actually deadly killers. Here I sit the morning after two full rounds of chemo and I’m still feeling good. I did experience a mild bonk last night [...]

Successful TriRock Philly for TNT

Last weekend I had the privilege of watching a couple of dozen of our Team in Training athletes cross the finish line of the 2016 TriRock Philadelphia Triathlon. These guys worked hard all season to prepare for Philly. In total, our team raised $104,000 to aid the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s mission to fight blood [...]

I recently had the pleasure of chatting with NBC10’s Vai Sikahema on my relationship with the TriRock Philadelphia Triathlon as an athlete, a coach, and a survivor. Michael Sneed of title sponsor Johnson & Johnson joined me as well. Here is the link to the segment: NBC10 Philly
