National Cancer Survivors Day 2021
It’s been a long time since I’ve posted here. It’s not because I haven’t been active on social media. I’ve been very active on Facebook and Instagram but I’ve done a poor job of posting updates here as well. I vow to be better!! ….
A few last words on this year’s National Cancer Survivors [...]
National Cancer Survivors Day 2021 is Coming!
National Cancer Survivors Day is almost upon us. And I for one plan to make it much more than a single day celebration. So buckle up. Today I look back on the book that I wrote 6 years ago. This was the fifth book I had written and I felt that it was [...]
The Long Run
My daughter Jennifer wrote this piece for a non-fiction & memoirs creative writing assignment. While I’ve lived every step of this journey in real time and in the first person, hearing a loved ones interpretation of these same events proved very moving for me. Hopefully you’ll appreciate it as well. Happily, the period of unemployment [...]
Living with CLL
I recently did an interview for Health Monitor and shared a few tips on living with a chronic and incurable cancer like chronic lymphocytic leukemia. Hopefully you enjoy reading it!
Dance with Me
Quick update for those keeping score at home. Today is day 13 on my new daily chemo ibrutinib and I continue to see amazing results with virtually no side effects. I also had my 2 week oncolodoc check in today and he was equally pleased. My blood work is responding exactly as it’s supposed to. [...]

Ironman Lake Placid 70.3 Bib #24
This week the athlete bib #s were published for Ironman Lake Placid 70.3. There are a couple of thousand athletes registered for this race so I was pretty surprised to see that I was assigned #24. I’m not sure if these were assigned alphabetically or if those of us representing the Ironman Foundation were assigned [...]

Tuckahoe Sprint Duathlon
So, here’s the thing. I registered for the Tuckahoe (NJ) Sprint Duathlon long before we jumped into the chemotherapy pool and luxury spa. My hope is that I should still be able to pull this off. The race is next week, 7/31, and is a few short miles from our house in Marmora NJ. It’s [...]

2016 Chemo Round 1, Day 2
Round one is a wrap! I just finished up my second treatment day of the first round of chemo without any issues. We used the same precautionary cocktails as yesterday followed by a healthy dose of Bendeka (Treanda). I have to say that I am really amazed at how good I felt coming out of [...]
